# How Dream Works

Dream combines an onchain wallet with an options brokerage that connects traders to institutional liquidity providers.

Instead of relying on a traditional order book, Dream requests quotes from liquidity providers for the specific option you want to trade.

### The Trading Process

#### 1. Fund Your Account

Deposit funds into your Dream wallet and transfer them into Buying Power to begin trading options.

#### 2. Choose Your Trade

Select an asset, choose whether you expect its price to rise or fall, and set your strike price, expiration date, and trade size.

#### 3. Receive a Quote

Dream requests pricing from institutional liquidity providers and selects the most competitive available quote for your trade.

#### 4. Open Your Position

Once you accept an executable quote and the trade completes, your position appears in your portfolio.

#### 5. Close or Settle

You can request to close your position before expiration, provided an executable quote is available. Otherwise, your option is automatically cash-settled at expiration.

### How Funds Move

Dream separates Cash held in your onchain wallet from Buying Power used for options trading.

Funds can be transferred between these balances. Proceeds from closing positions or receiving settlement payouts are credited to Buying Power.\

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.dreamos.app/introduction/how-dream-works.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
